Schibsted Marketplaces needed 1 set of guidelines that served all of their brands, languages, and types of content. As well as being accessibility-driven from the start. And actually nice to use.
OBJECTIVE
"I don't know any other organisation that's done this successfully. What if it isn't possible?" "Well, at least we'll learn a lot along the way." Schibsted Marketplaces was now truly cross-Nordic. They needed content writing guidelines that served their hugely popular brands, including Finn.no, Blocket, Tori, and DBA. Each brand has its own localisation, UX, and content-type needs. And there was no chance we were going to create something that didn't have accessibility baked in from the start.
Outcome
・In less than 1 year, Astro was born. ・Me and my team built guidelines that, not only ticked all the boxes for needs, but was joyful to use. ・Content accessibility was no longer an add-on. All the guidance across Astro was created with accessibility as the foundation.

What I did
Built a succinct but robust project brief as our guiding North star throughout the endeavour.
Held workshops around tooling, product naming, content hierarchy, and all the things.
Worked closely with many stakeholder teams (from engineering, to legal) to ensure we were serving their needs from the get-go.
Set up trusted QA processes and audits.
Created product marketing strategies to ensure our people buy into and onboard to the content guidelines.
Boom.
